Working principle

Carbon dioxide is a molecule composed of heterogeneous atoms with an absorption spectrum in the infrared wavelength range, and its absorption intensity follows the Lambert Beer law. When a light wave corresponding to the characteristic absorption wavelength of a certain gas passes through the measured gas, its intensity will significantly decrease, and the degree of intensity attenuation is related to the concentration of the gas. The relationship between the two follows the Lambert Beer law.

Most organic and inorganic polyatomic molecular gases have specific absorption wavelengths in the infrared region. When infrared light passes through, the transmitted light intensity of these gas molecules at specific wavelengths.
